Supporting citizen and community led crisis response

Integrating local response and spontaneous self-help in crisis situations after a natural disaster or a conflict is not an easy task. This training developed and conducted by the Local2Global Protection Initiative (L2GP) will help participants understand and support survivor & community-led crisis responses (sclr) in a manner that fits local realities and adds to resources already present with affected citizens and communities. This hands-on training introduces participants to the core elements in this way of working. The focus is on practical experience with the tools needed to support genuinely community-led responses that serve both immediate needs but also attempts to reduce future vulnerability and increase resilience of crisis-affected communities.

NGO staff working as program officers, managers, sectoral specialists, quality and accountability experts or senior management staff are invited to apply for the training. Please note: We encourage applications by several staff working for the same organisation who may then work together during group work. But this is not precondition – we very much also welcome individuals to join the training.

The training will be conducted by experienced trainers of Local 2 Global Protection. Simone di Vicenz will lead the training, supported by Nathalie Töpperwien Blom. Both are practitioners and trainers with years of significant experience in the sector and a work focus on participatory methods and strengthening resilience of communities affected by crisis. Further information about the initiative can be found here: https://www.local2global.info/

Participation is free of charge. The number of participants is limited and participants are expected to take part in all sessions. The sessions will be in English and will include regular breaks.

This training is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
